Is it free to create an account and upload music?
Yes. Account creation, private drafts and studio review requests are free here. Our proposed distribution model has no upfront or annual fee and an 85% artist / 15% platform share of net receipts. Distribution starts only under a signed agreement and an activated provider connection.
Do I keep ownership of my music?
You retain the rights you own. Uploading or submitting a draft does not transfer your master ownership. A distribution agreement will define the non-exclusive permissions, territories, duration and withdrawal terms. You must also have the permissions needed for lyrics, composition, performers, samples, beats and artwork.
Which platforms will my release reach?
The planned network includes Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, JioSaavn and Meta music services. The final store list, territories and eligibility depend on the contracted backend. We do not currently claim an active 150+ store network or direct partnerships with these services.
How do the 85/15 split and payouts work?
The proposed split is 85% for the artist and 15% for Folk Music Studio, calculated on net receipts credited by the provider, before applicable artist-level withholding. The proposed payout threshold is ₹1,000, subject to verified onboarding and the signed agreement. Reporting often arrives later than listening activity; the actual cycle is provider-specific. No wallet, withdrawals or royalty reports are active yet.
What audio and artwork should I upload?
Use stereo WAV or FLAC at 16-bit or 24-bit and 44.1 or 48 kHz. New cover uploads must be exactly 3000 × 3000 pixels in JPG or PNG. Keep phone numbers, social handles and unrelated logos off the cover. This workspace currently accepts 35 MB per audio file, 8 MB per cover and 250 MB total. Use lossless FLAC or ask the studio about larger masters.
How long does a release take to go live?
You can submit a complete release for studio review now. Review is separate from store delivery. We do not guarantee 48–72 hour delivery or a 2–5 day release. When distribution is activated, the team will confirm lead times and your requested release date under the provider’s rules.
Can I upload remixes, purchased beats or traditional folk songs?
Only upload recordings you are authorised to use. Remixes, samples, purchased beats, traditional lyrics and public-domain compositions need careful rights review. A licence to distribute does not automatically make the recording eligible for YouTube Content ID. Non-exclusive and public-domain reference material can be ineligible; Content ID requests are manually reviewed.
Do I need to upload PAN, Aadhaar or bank details at signup?
No. Create and verify your email account first, then complete your artist profile. Payment verification will be introduced through a secure onboarding provider before withdrawals are enabled. Do not send PAN, Aadhaar, bank account numbers, passwords or OTPs through BUJJI or support messages.
Can I request a takedown or fix the wrong artist profile?
Yes. Open your support inbox and create a takedown or artist-mapping request with the release title, reference and public store links. The team reviews and routes the request. Submitting a request does not instantly remove music or change a store profile; timing depends on the distributor and store.
Do smart links automatically pre-save a release?
No. Smart links gather your official listening URLs into a public page you choose to publish. They do not obtain listener permissions or automatically save music to Spotify or Apple Music. Pre-save campaigns need a separate supported integration and listener consent.
