RELEASE PREPARATION GUIDE

Give your next release a good beginning.

Updated 2 November 2026 · Folk Music Studio, a Vistle Studios initiative

1. Save your artist profile

Use the artist or label name you want associated with your music and a contact email the team can reach. Your profile is shared with the team when you submit a release.

2. Prepare your audio and artwork

Upload a final lossless WAV or FLAC file up to 35 MB. FLAC can keep a lossless master smaller. Artwork must be square JPG or PNG, up to 8 MB; a high-resolution original is recommended. These are workspace upload limits. Final store specifications will be confirmed before delivery.

3. Add accurate credits

Check the title, primary artist, genre, language, composer, lyricist and label. Put featured performers, samples, version information, instrumental notes and relevant previous-release identifiers in the additional notes field. A preferred date is a planning request rather than a confirmed store release.

4. Keep rights evidence ready

Prepare the recording ownership agreement or distribution authority and relevant permissions for composition, lyrics, performers, artwork, samples and purchased beats. For traditional or folk material, distinguish the underlying song from a particular recording, arrangement or new lyrics. Do not assume that traditional material makes every recording free to use.

5. Submit for studio review

Save the draft, choose its review-and-submit action, complete the checklist and explicitly agree to share it with the studio. You can then follow the status and feedback in your workspace. Private drafts are not automatically visible to reviewers.

6. Agree the commercial service separately

Before any music is delivered to stores, the service scope, distribution authority, territories, charges, deductions, reporting, termination and other relevant terms must be agreed. Streaming delivery and Content ID have separate eligibility requirements. Never pay for guaranteed streams or guaranteed playlist placement.
